Cards and Nothing More

Tonight I am going back to Scrappy Girl's to finish my holiday cards. Then I will have to choose the few who will receive them. I am only making 20 cards. I'm hoping to take some pics of my favorites before they make their way into the mail so keep an eye out.

On another note:
Miss B received a Halloween box from the MIL filled with candies and other assorted Halloween costume accessories. One of her favorites from the box? Grossing me out with this extremely large gummy. Blech! This is definitely something only a kid would find appetizing.

Halloween Past

I have been inspired by all of the Halloween posts and pics to let you in on how we celebrate Halloween at the Kally Casa. I will begin with a Kally Halloween Past aka Trick or Treat.

Miss B was 3 years old and ready to hit the Halloween homes in her sweet little Tinkerbell costume and pumpkin head candy bucket. Somehow she convinced Mr C to wear a neon orange wig as his costume. I lucked out since we did not own anymore wigs or costumes. My costume of choice for the night was a pair of khakis and a long sleeved t-shirt. We paraded her around the neighborhood in search of candy. She wouldn't say "Trick or Treat" by herself so we were calling it out with her. B loved all of the attention and the candy was an extra perk for her. We did get a couple of odd looks and I began to wonder what was wrong. Did that many people think it was weird for us to take a 3 year old trick or treating? After walking around 2 more blocks we finally decided to end this night of bumming for candy. Miss B went up to the door, rang the bell and this Grizzly Adams looking guy answered the door and told B he just ran out of candy. Then all of a sudden he looked at me, started to smile and said he would give her a can of pop. He plunked it into her bucket and smiled as we walked off. Mr C and I kept wondering why the weird turnabout from Grizzly when all of a sudden I looked down and realized the zipper on my khakis was down and wide open giving good ole Grizzly a view of my underwear. I was so embarrassed but later laughed about all those crazy looks I was getting and wondered what the heck people thought when I came up to a house with my fly open yelling "Trick or Treat!"

Am I alone or do you have an embarrassing Halloween mishap to share?

Phones, Cards & Italian Food

Phones: We finally did it. Every member of the Kally Casa has new phones! Yea! For those looking for something for the Uber Geek in their life, I suggest the G1 (I think I have also heard this referred to as the android.) It is similar to the sidekick but smaller, sleeker and with more techy options. Four guys at Computer Co have purchased this phone and all owners rave about it. I overheard one saying something about having skype on the phone. Originally, Mr C was holding out for the Blackberry Bold to be released but was swayed by the G1 and I haven't heard a complaint about it from him yet. For those like me who want: email, a camera and for the phone to be pink, go for the Sidekick. I have the 08 which is a lot smaller than past sidekicks and it fulfills all of my above listed requirements....with the exception of the whole pink thing for the time being. It came with 2 shells: black & green. I am ordering a couple of pink shells for future use and have told everyone if they need to get me a gift to get me a new shell for the phone. You can't go wrong with pink. Miss B also got a phone. Before you guys freak out on me please realize this is NOT her phone. We always keep an extra cell for out of state family visitors to use since we don't have or need a land line. We let B pick out the phone with one stipulation: Non-techy Granny has to be able to easily use this phone. Granny is 80 something years old and needs a user friendly phone with a clear cut green-call button and red-hang up button. Done, Done & Done. The whole Kally Family is happily using new phones.

Cards: I attended a holiday card-making party this weekend hosted by Scrappy Girl BUT didn't finish with the entire set of cards sooooo I left them at Scrappy Girl's house to finish on Wednesday evening. Some very lucky friends of mine could be receiving a special Kally-made card. Just make sure I have your address. Really, some of these cards are so cute I will have a hard time parting with them.

Italian Food: After the card making party a bunch of us went out for dinner. We had decided upon Mama Mias. I was super excited to try this place out since I found out they have eggplant parm on the menu. Well, upon arriving I realized we were going to have a wait. Not a big deal. It was Saturday night after all I pretty much expected a wait anywhere I went. So I go up to the hostess to get my name on the list and tell her that I would like a table for a party of six. She looks at me like I am nut case since I don't have six people crowded around me and asks if I have a reservation. I kindly tell her no I do not. Then she proceeds to frown at me and shake her head. "Too Bad" she says. Too Bad?! What?!?! What kind of hostess tells a patron Too Bad? Then she tells me we will have to wait at least 45 minutes. (This wouldn't have been a big deal to me if the whole too bad thing hadn't happened.) I tell her never mind and walk out the door with the rest of the crew and we headed over to the Macaroni Grill. Service was good, the food was great and they had eggplant parmesan. Yum!

**Tonight I am going to attempt something I get at this place called Noodles. Easy cheesy and filling: Cavatappi pasta with greek olives and feta & mozzerella cheese. I think I'll have Mr C make the garlic cheesy bread. Sound good?

Today's Special: Mac & Cheese

I have been incredibly busy lately at work. Not a moment to spare. So I am copping out today and giving you a quick funny that happened at the Kally Casa the other night.

I learned an interesting piece of information about my supervisor aka Boss Man earlier in the day and decided to share it with Mr C.

Me: I just found out that Boss Man can cook. Really well. Do you know what his specialty is? -I pause for dramatic effect.- Macaroni and Cheese. You know, the good kind with milk and real cheese and is baked in the oven. Not the crap kind that comes in a box.

C: .....So you are saying my macaroni and cheese is crap, huh?

Me: Umm, no of course NOT Dear. Why would I do that? Your mac & cheese isn't crap. -I am back-peddling desperately here because he is kind enough to help out by making dinner some nights. The big problem here is that when he is in charge of dinner I know to expect to eat one of two things: pizza or ...yep, you've got it mac & cheese.
C: Well, my mac & cheese does come in a box. So you are saying it is crap.

-What can I do here?-

I smile as sweetly as possible and say...I love you, dear.

I raced from my desk to capture this moment just for you. It only lasted a few minutes and quietly faded away. Isn't this a gorgeous view. What a wonderful way to brighten my work day. I hope it does the same for you.

Bits of Randomness

The weekend was pretty laid back. I hung out with Scrappy Girl and played with stamps and stuff. No real cards came of this but a good time was had by all. Since nothing much is going on here I will leave you today with some simple thoughts of late.

For those who wanted to know: Miss B did bring home her sweater from the field trip and one that has been MIA for about a month. w00t!

What is up with these crazy Portland Drivers? I have barely lived here a month and I have seen 3 news reports of people driving cars into houses!

When visiting EVERYONE'S blog I noticed the cute little Follow This Blog thing in the corner. I decided I needed to get this myself and looked everywhere.....except under page elements and add a gadget. Wouldn't you know always in the last and most obvious place I would look. (This means you can follow me now!)

Just realized the neighbors two houses down have their wireless doorbell on the same frequency as our wireless doorbell :( This means when drunk girl comes to visit them at 3 o'clock in the morning my doorbell rings too. This totally stinks because this girl doesn't ring the bell once and wait. She repeatedly taps on it like she is sending out an SOS.

Mr C got a haircut this weekend. The lady screwed up and gave him a cut that is slightly longer than a military do. He also bought a hat. :)
